seemed appropriate
some stars are being ghosts
so far, they've spent most of their time
learning how to shine
my heart is getting close:
try hard to keep her in line
tell her to beat in time.
sometimes that little box skips a
beat
always seems to happen when youre with me.
sometimes that little box skips a
beat
if this isn't the life, then what could it be?
for billions of years, some atoms drifted through space.
at some point, they
came together to form your pretty face.
i've been staring at the contellations,
wondering which one of them you came from.
most of our universe is made up of nothing,
so what a beautiful thing that we are here,
and capable of loving.
i will write down every word,
tag them onto every wall,
so when we vanish from this earth
love will carry on.

a couple of trees fill their lungs
sigh, standing in the park.
one grows toward the sun,
the other one likes the dark.
these leaves used to be so young
for half a hundred years they've hung
yellowed blades fall off their tongues
waving farewells to the bark
years and seasons lost and won,
merely days, but the best one:
when deep roots underground first touched;
warmer nights in winter's dark.

true blue moon
(from August 21st, 2013)
on the last true blue moon i hardly knew you,
built a wall to harden my chest;
best way to keep the dogs out:
trust your senses, question fences.
nightly i pressed hearts in journals
Fall tested the trees once again.
Winter quests with narrow morals
obsessed with ice graves, life condemns.
another blue moon creeps this evening -
summer's shimmer far from dead.
warm nights steal the covers from me
carve the blues into my head.
now and again, you and I, are machines
turning sighs into sweat
we can be the bass, the beat,
the melody stuck inside their heads

I know it's been a long time comin',
gettin' goin' down.
Meant to be a long time lover, keep it goin' round.
If you were a tree, honey bee, would you make a sound?
Do you wanna see? Come with me. I think we found it.
Been a lot of highs, lows, soarin' up and fallin' down.
Learnin' how to rise, let go, watch it even out.
Take a deep breath, take a rest, feel your heart pound.
Listen to the wind, to the birds, to the Earth sound.
I think I'm ready to live in the clouds.
Are you coming with me?
You're coming with me.
gettin' goin' down.
Meant to be a long time lover, keep it goin' round.

mourn the cattle, praise the beef
mourn the cattle
praise the beef
born to eat
crazed for meat
torn and shattered
blaze and cheat
swore not to tattle
not playin for keeps
floor is scattered
so cage the green
the wars are fatter
yet more discreet
gore and chatter
whore the screens
the world is flatter
frayed and bleak
adore and flatter
and pray for me
blink fuck sleep
repeat
torn and shattered
blaze and cheat
swore not to tattle
not playin for keeps
floor is scattered
so cage the green
the wars are fatter
yet more discreet
gore and chatter
whore the screens
the world is flatter
frayed and bleak
adore and flatter

Earth got along just fine for billions of years before humankind. She is the provider of everything we require for a happy existence.
We learned how to create emptiness and pine over it. Imagine problems and fantasize them into monsters. Fear the beasts and spend a short lifetime hoping to slay them -- unrelenting yet completely resistant to one of the greater axioms of the human experience: you are the savage, the demon, the beast.
With your teeth, you will destroy.
And with your hands, you can create.
Love and breathe in the candor of our cyclical universe.

Hear me out for a second
because I know it might sound crazy
but there's mice runnin a maze
on top of a cake made out of amazing.
And the icing's made of spices;
makes it taste just like daisies--
painted with purple paisleys,
first in circles then in wave-sies.
And there's either six jaguars with one giant eye each
or one giant flower with a lot of fuckin teeth
and I'm just starin at it hopin it doesn't eat me
but I write the story, so why would it eat me.. ?
this shit's crawlin on the ceiling tellin' me
gravity is for jerks
but I been growin' out my wings, see
and I know gravity still works
just trying to put my finger on the difference
between lsd and eucalyptus
koala bears text each other "let's trip this."
been listenin with my fox ears
tryina remember which one is the raven
it all glimmers a little bit different
since we started ravin'
I hate it when people say that love is a sickness
like if we just eat more zinc it'll fix this
and I hate it when people say it's a gift
as if you could pack this up and ship it for Christmas
but it floats around the sky -- it bonds with hydrogen.
and lets the roses live in your skin
that's not just melanin
keeps the world spinnin' and keeps it in key
makes my heart spin in circles 'round the strings on my sleeves
This shit is not an accident, okay? This is not a hoax.
And anyone who doesn't believe in magic has never been to these shows.
Because every single note that I hear somebody sing;
every single snare hit on every other beat, is
just another drop in an ocean where I'm drowning and
the closer I am to my last breath,
the closer I am to me.
So try and tell me there's no such thing as magic
or consider every wish you've ever made already granted.
Universe planted answers in your hands - you have to grab them.
And the tragedy is all of the nay-sayers on this planet
who will never know the way we do that the whole world is fucking enchanted.

"Amidst the attention given to the sciences as how they can lead to the cure of all diseases and daily problems of mankind, I believe that the biggest breakthrough will be the realization that the arts, which are conventionally considered ‘useless,’ will be recognized as the whole reason why we ever try to live longer or live more prosperously."

if pens were knives and clouds were stones,
buried alive i'd bleed alone.
watch the sun rise, she overthrows;
now you can hide or you can roam.
curse this page, naked to the bone
how do I turn ink into gold?
time to make the story unfold:
same old voice, a new shadow.
if all the words were tea leaves
they'd be my skin - just have to steep:
so give my body to the sea,
float in an ocean made of tea.
buried alive i'd bleed alone.
watch the sun rise, she overthrows;
now you can hide or you can roam.
curse this page, naked to the bone
how do I turn ink into gold?
time to make the story unfold:
